- The
main reason for any trip to Pisa is of course to
see the world famous Leaning Tower located
in the Piazza del Duomo or Campo dei Miracoli, ("Field
of Miracles").
- The
Piazza also holds Pisa's other main architectural
gems including the must-see Duomo or cathedral
and its breathtaking Baptistry with its spectacular
bronze doors and pure white marble facade.
- Especially
for lovers of the dark & Gothic, also don't
miss the nearby Camposanto or cemetery, featuring
unforgettable stone carvings and skull-and-crossbones
laden tombstones.
- Piazza
dei Cavalieri, or Knight's Square, is another
impressive public space dating back to medieval
times. It was redesigned in the classical style
during the Renaissance, with wide open vistas giving
expansive views of the church of Santo Stefano dei
Cavalieri, and the Palazzo dell'Orologio (clock
building).
